20 injured as passenger train derails near Kalabagh

MIANWALI: At least 20 people sustained injuries when the engine and seven coaches of a passenger train derailed near Kalabagh town of Mianwali district early Sunday morning.

According to rescue sources, the engine and seven cars of Khushal Khan Khattak Express slipped off the rails near Kalabagh at around 5:00am. As a result, 20 people suffered injuries.

A Pakistan Railways spokesperson said four of the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention while the rest were provided first aid at the spot.

He said a relief train and rescue teams reached the site of the accident from Kundian for the rescue operation.
