KARACHI: Several parts of Karachi experienced power cuts in wee hours on Thrusday as power supply was suspended due to tripping of transmission lines.
The areas that reeled under the breakdown in electricity supply included North Nazimabad, Liaqatabad, Saddar, Gulbahar, Azizabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulsitan-e-Jauhar, old city area, Malir, Clifton, Defence, Steel Mill and few others.
K-Electric shared the reason of power disruption on Twitter and said “due to tripping in the EHT Network” the metropolis is facing the electricity outage as “supply from National Grid to the city is off.”
It further wrote that efforts are underway to restore the power supply.

The electricity supplying body later updated in its tweet that power supply has been restored partially in the port city, while “work is progressing swiftly on the remaining affected areas.”

It is pertinent to mention that this is the third major power breakdown in less than two months’ time to hit the metropolitan city.
