ECP to decide fate of votes cast by overseas Pakistanis today

Overseas Pakistanis vote

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will decide the fate of votes polled by overseas Pakistanis in Sunday’s by-elections after a meeting with NADRA officials today.

This was stated by ECP Spokesman Nadeem Qasim while talking to media in Islamabad.

He said the votes of overseas Pakistanis would be included in total vote count only after ECP’s full satisfaction.

Overseas Pakistanis took part in a by-election for the first time. Out of 7,364 registered overseas voters, 6,233 cast their votes through i-voting.

The overseas Pakistanis were allowed to vote on experimental basis on the directive of the Supreme Court.

As per unofficial results, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have managed to secure four NA seats each while PML-Q surprised everyone by winning two NA seats. MMA’s Zahid Durrani emerged victorious from NA-35 Bannu.
