It was an act of terrorism: Imran Khan on 26/11 attack

NEW DELHI: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in an interview with The Washington Post on Thursday, acknowledged that the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai 2008 was perpetrated by Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Speaking on the Mumbai terror attacks, Khan said, “We also want something done about the bombers of Mumbai. I have asked our government to find out the status of the case. Resolving that case is in our interest because it was an act of terrorism.”

The Government of India on the 10th anniversary of the dreadful 26/11 terrorist attack, released a statement in which it had given a stern warning to Pakistan to “give up double standards and to expeditiously bring the perpetrators of the horrific attack to justice”.

The Pakistan PM’s response has come in the light of the question on why the mastermind of the Mumbai attack LeT Commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was released on bail while a nine-year trial has dragged on for six other suspects in Pakistan with no result, reported Hindustan Times.

On his country’s relations with Washington, Khan has accused the US of “pushing Pakistan away” and said he would never want to have a relation with Washington where his country is treated like a “hired gun”.

He also dismissed claims that there were safe havens for terrorists in Pakistan, saying that “there are no sanctuaries in Pakistan”.
