Karachi city govt devises allotment plan for Empress Market affected shopkeepers

KARACHI: The city government of Karachi has devised a plan to provide alternate shops to shopkeepers affected in the Empress Market anti-encroachment operation here, ARY News reported on Friday.

The city government has prepared a list of the affected people and devised a strategy for allotment of shops to them.

ARY News has got details of the plan of the city government. Under the plan 1470 shops and stalls will be allotted through balloting in the first phase.

In second stage of the allotment plan 2100 shops will given to the affected people through balloting. The city’s government will allot 240 shops at the ground and mezanine floor of Parking Plaza in Saddar. The city’s authority will allot another 400 shops to affected people at a vacant plot opposite to the Parking Plaza, according to the plan.

Another 250 shops will be allotted to the affected people of the anti-encroachment drive in KMC Furniture Market at PIDC road.

Moreover, 350 shops will be allotted to the shopkeepers at the Lines Area’s Shahabudding Market, according to the plan.

The city authority will allot 61 stalls to affected people at Ranchhore Line in the old city area, while 42 stalls will be allotted at KMC’s furniture market at Akbar Road.

The city government will also allot 100 shops at Lyari’s Khadda Market and 27 stalls at Liaquatabad Super Market, according to the details of allotment received by the ARY News.
