
PESHAWAR: At least sixteen people died and twenty others injured in rain-related incidents after downpour and windstorm lashed parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
According to details, nine people died and fifteen other suffered injuries when a roof of a religious seminary collapsed in Mamond area of Bajaur Agency due to heavy rain and strong windstorm.
Four persons died in Khyber Agency and two in Nowshwera. Similarly, one person died and five other injured at Alpuri in Shangla District.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Pakistan Metrological Department said scattered rain with thundershower occurred in KP, upper Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the past 24 hours. Whereas, weather remained hot and dry in plain areas of the country.
According to the Met Office, 60 millimeter rain was recorded in KP’s Saidu Sharif, 15 in Dir and Malamjaba, 13 in Kalam, 12 in Drosh and Lower Dir, 11 in Mirkhani, 08 in Pattan, 07 in Balakot, 06 in Parachinar, and Risalpur, 05 in Peshawar, 04 in Chitral, 03 in Kakul.
Whereas, a maximum of 15 millimeter has been recorded in Rawalpindi, 15 in Islamabad’s Golra, 05 in Saidpur, 04 in Bokra, 03 in Z.P, 12 in Murree, 09 in M.B. Din, 07 in Jehlum, 02 in Lahore.
06 millimeter rain was recorded in Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad and Garidupatta, 05 in Rawalakot, 05 in Bagrot, and 03 in Astore.
