Sahiwal victims’ relatives arrive at Parliament House

Sahiwal family

ISLAMABAD: Relatives of an innocent family that was killed in the Sahiwal operation along with a terror suspect have arrived at the Parliament House to meet the Senates Standing Committee on Interior, ARY News reported.

The heirs of the victims of the bungled Sahiwal encounter, including the deceased Khalil’s two brothers and Zeeshan’s mother, arrived in Islamabad from Lahore today to appear before the parliamentary panel to record their statement before it.

Khalil, a resident of Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat, along with his wife Nabeela and teenage daughter Areeba was killed in a shady encounter involving the Punjab police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on a highway in the Qadirabad area of Sahiwal district almost ten days ago.

Speaking to media before leaving for Islamabad to take part in Senate standing committee meeting, Jalil, brother of the deceased Khalil, said the statement by their lawyer regarding threats was in his personal capacity.

He opined that it would have been better if the judicial commission was formed instead of the joint investigation team (JIT). “We are not satisfied with the probe of JIT,” he stated.
