FAISALABAD: A police official was martyred while two suspected robbers were shot dead in a shootout in Faisalabad on Friday night, ARY News reported.
Police said two robbers were busy stealing backup batteries from a mobile phone tower in Mehmoodpur neighborhood.
When they saw a police team approaching them, they opened fire in a bid to escape, a police official said.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, he said, both the outlaws were killed on the spot while an assistant sub-inspect received fatal gunshot injuries, which later resulted in his death.
The killed suspects were identified as Azfal and Zahid. The identity of the deceased police officer could not be ascertained immediately.
