Hyderabad: A person assassinated his wife for getting more dowry and fled away. The Kandakur police registered against him based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father. Later, police arrested Lingam, the husband of the victim.
According to the details furnished by Rachakonda Police, Hemavati and Lingam had eloped from their houses and performed love marriage. They went to their native place, Madhapur after a year. During this period, they became parents of a daughter.
Lingam’s mother commented that had he married a girl of his caste, he would have got Rs. 15-20 lakh as dowry. Influenced by this comment, Lingam started harassing his wife. On 9th March, he strangled the throat of his wife and killed her. Later, he fled away.
Police arrested him and started investigations.
