Sattar accuses PPP of squaring party MPAs to secure Senate seats

Farooq Sattar

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Dr. Farooq Sattar accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of greasing the party MPAs’ palms to change their loyalties, costing his party a humiliating defeat in the Senate elections.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in PIB Colony here, Sattar also blamed the Bahadurabad group for giving an edge to the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) over MQM-P in the Senate elections after running a separate campaign for the polls.

The division of MQM-P into two groups cost the party a defeat in the elections as it could only secure one seat out of five candidates.

The MQM-P convener accused the PPP of squaring the party MPAs to cast their votes to the PPP candidates.

He conceded that at least 14 MPAs out of total 37 party MPAs didn’t cast their ballots to MQM-P.

“Some of our party MPAs reached Sindh Assembly along with the PPP MPAs. They went straight to the chamber of chief minister before casting their votes to the PPP” he said.

Turning guns on Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Sattar said Maqbool shattered his trust after holding a press conference without informing him.

The ruling party in Sindh, PPP, secured 10 out of 12 seats for Senate from Sindh Assembly and surprisingly won one general seat and one seat reserved for women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where it has total six MPAs.
