Zardari announces to contest elections from Nawabshah

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday announced to contest the next general elections from his hometown of Nawabshah, ARY News reported.

The former president made the announcement during an informal discussion with mediapersons during a reception at the Chief Minister House also attended by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Zardari said that he would contest elections for a National Assembly seat from his hometown, as the people of Nawabshah want him to lead them. He said that he decided to go to parliament so he could lead fellow party members for represent the nation.

However, it is unsure which seat he would contest, and whether he would contest from any other part of the country. When asked whether it was necessary to contest elections from Nawabshah, Zardari said that he could contest from anywhere across the country, but the people of the city had expressed the desire that he should represent them.

Asked if the party stronghold of Lyari could be a possible constituency to contest election, he said that the decision will be made by the party and he will abide by it.

It may be mentioned that Bilawal has already announced to contest upcoming general elections from NA-200 Larkana. The constituency is considered to be the home turf of the PPP, and even former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had been elected from the constituency.
