ECP forms teams to monitor campaign for polls

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday constituted teams to monitor political parties’ campaign for coming general elections.  

According to the Commission, the teams have been empowered to take action in case of any violation of its code of conduct for the polls.

With the general elections around the corner, political parties’ campaign to woo voters is gathering momentum.

Election candidates are visiting their respective constituencies, addressing corner meetings and rallies to canvass people to vote for them.

The process of printing ballot papers for the polls began on Sunday as per schedule.

More than 210 million ballot papers will be printed for the polls at a cost of Rs2 billion. All arrangements have been finalized in this regard, according to the list.

The printing work will be done under the supervision of army in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

The final lists of candidates have been displayed outside the offices of the returning officers and district returning officers across the country.

A total of 21, 482 candidates have submitted nomination papers to contest the polls.
