KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) adjourned Rao Anwar sub-jail hearing until July 11 as the former Malir SSP’s counsel did not appear before the court.
Family of late Naqeebullah Mehsud had filed the case against provincial government’s decision to declare Anwar’s house as a sub-jail.
In yesterday’s hearing, Jail Superintendent Hasan Suhatto submitted an affidavit before the court stating that Anwar’s residence had been declared as sub-jail due to security reasons, as the Central Jail was filled beyond its capacity.
The provincial Inspector General (IG) jail also stated the same reason in his affidavit.
The family of Naqeebullah held a protest before the hearing, he was killed along with three others in a suspected fake encounter by Anwar and his subordinates, earlier this year. Initially, Rao Anwar claimed Naqeebullah was member outlawed Lashkar Jhangvi.
later, the inquiry committee headed by Sanaullah Abbasi declared the encounter fake and also requested the family to file case.
SSP Rao Anwar has been removed from his post, after Naqeebullah Mehsud’s killing investigation proved that he was innocent.
The committee assured that SSP Rao Anwar’s accusations against Naqeebullah was fraudulent and baseless, as there was no proof found of Naqeebullah being a terrorist.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar also took suo motu notice of alleged extra judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsood.
