ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday warned that it will revoke former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s passport over his failure to appear before the Supreme Court.
The chief justice, who was hearing a case pertaining to the appointment of former PTV managing director Ata ul Haq Qasmi, expressed displeasure over the absence of the PML-N leader who has been in London.
“We had summoned Ishaq Dar. Where’s he,” asked the top judge.
He expressed displeasure when the attorney general informed that he hasn’t returned from London.
Justice Nisar said he will revoke Dar’s passport who he said didn’t turn up despite being summoned by the top court. He said the court will also consider issuing red warrants for his arrest through Interpol.
The court will do whatever it will deem fit to ensure his return to the country, he warned.
He summoned the relevant officials of the Ministry of Interior to submit their response in this regard and called for a break.
It is important to note here that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has already suspended the Senate membership of Dar on the directives of the apex court.
