Pakistan condemns Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has expressed deep shock and grief over the brutal killing of 17 people in occupied Kashmir by Indian troops. 

The premier said vicious crackdowns, including the use of pellet guns on Kashmiris who were protesting against the killings, was reprehensible.

He reiterated that the attempts on the part of India to portray the legitimate Kashmir struggle as terrorism couldn’t deter the courageous people of held Kashmir from demanding their right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.

PM Abbasi called upon international community to urge India to allow access to fact-finding missions to occupied Kashmir.

Separately, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif while condemning the brutal killings and indiscriminate use of force by Indian forces said the blood of innocent Kashmiris shaking the conscience of the world.

Reiterating Pakistan’s support for Kashmiris, he said the country stands with them in this hour of trial.

Khawaja AsifMeanwhile, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the voice of Kashmiris can’t be silenced with guns and demanded of international community to condemn Indian atrocities.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan said in a tweet: “Strongly condemn the brutality of Indian forces against innocent Kashmiris and the killing of unarmed civilians in IOK. The people of Pak stand with the Kashmiris democratic struggle for self determination. The UNSC must act against Indian aggression in IOK.”

 


Occupation troops have martyred 17 youth and injured as many as 100 in fresh acts of state terrorism in Shopian and Islamabad districts of occupied Kashmir, according to a Kashmir Media Service (KMS) report.

The youth were killed during cordon and search operations, launched by the occupation forces at Dagdard and Kachdoora areas of the two districts in South Kashmir. The toll is likely to increase once the operation is over.
