Gagandeep turns a ‘Celebrity cop’ attracts huge selfie-seekers

NEW DELHI: Gagandeep Singh, the Sikh Sub-Inspector saved a Muslim man from allegedly being mob lynched in Uttarakhand is garnering respect and affection.

Ever since the video of the cop doing rounds on social media, Gagandeep is being treated not less than a celebrity as people hailing him for his bravery. While some applauded Singh’s act on Twitter and his commitment towards his work, many people walking down to him for clicking selfies with the cop.

In an interview with The Quint, Singh said he received a lot of appreciation for his work and ever since that incident people have started recognising him.

On being asked about if his life has changed after that particular incident, Singh says: “Life hasn’t changed. I am doing what I used to do and I will keep doing that. But now people recognise me and click pictures, which makes me feel that I have done some good work.”

In the video, Singh was seen surrounded by the crowd, who were attacking the Muslim man, who was found with a Hindu girl at a temple in Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar.

Notably, the youth went to Garjia Devi temple to meet his girlfriend, a Hindu, during the holy Ramadan, the month during which Muslims not only abstain from food, drink but also from carrying out bad deeds and restraint oneself from indulgence in sensual pleasures from sunrise until sunset.
