Karachi weather turns pleasant after early morning drizzle

KARACHI: Early morning drizzle in various parts of Karachi on Friday turned the weather pleasant in Karachi.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the minimum temperature in Karachi recorded at 29 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature will likely reached to 32 degree Celsius today.

The winds blowing at an speed of 23 kilometers per hour, while humidity was 69 percent, the met office said.

Since last few days the temperatures in the city have go down after opening of the sea breeze after a spell of very hot weather, providing relief to the citizens.

The weather department had earlier predicted light rainfall and drizzle in the city that will break the searing weather in Karachi.

Abdul Rasheed, Director PMD, said that the monsoon clouds are gradually heading towards Karachi and the monsoon season can be expected to start earlier in the beginning of July.

Though it sure sounds like a blessing after the ongoing heatwave Rasheed said that the rain might not exactly turn out to be a relief.

Just last year in Karachi heavy rainfall in different areas of Karachi left several streets flooded. The city of lights also faced prolonged power cuts and electrical failures as a consequence of the downpour.

The rainfall, flooding the roads resulted in at least 11 people losing their lives in different rain-related incidents including drowning, electrocution, and ceiling collapse. Among the 11 victims, four were children.
