LAHORE: A returning officer on Tuesday accepted nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif for NA-132 constituency.
The RO also approved the papers filed by famed singer Jawad Ahmed to contest the July 25 polls from the same constituency.
A day earlier, the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of former premier Nawaz Sharif, for National Assembly constituency NA-125 was accepted after the respective returning officer announced the verdict, rejecting all objections against the papers.
The deadline set for completing the process of scrutiny of nomination papers submitted by candidates for coming general elections ends today.
As per the election schedule, appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers can be filed by 22nd of this month.
The Appellate Tribunals will decide the appeals by 27th, after which the revised list of candidates will be published on 28th of this month.
Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 29th June and the electoral body will announce the final list of candidates the same day.
